How to take the Ly-Z-Spa filter unit apart. Lots of people seem to have a problem with this unit. It looks like it can be repaired in many of these cases so i thought I would have a go at repairing my own. Please be careful as the large nut inside the filter is hard to undo. I used a hammer and screwdriver which is not recomended but i did not have a special tool to undo it. The unit looks well made once you get inside and fault finding is fairly easy. The blower, pump and heater wires all go back to a control unit. The wires can be isolated in there fo testing. The pump power suuply goes through an isolating transformer which could be easily replaced. the heater unit is an element inside a steel tube. I read somewhere that someone thinks it is a kettle element. The element is in series with a pressure switch and high temperature cut-out. either of these failing would stop the spa heating.
